Show and Tell Friday~My Cute Cow Clothing.

Today I would like to show you the outfits I sewed for my kids for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A. The framework of the idea came from my oldest daughter Sweetie.

This is such an easy romper to sew. It takes about an hour from cut to finish! It's completely lined as well!

This is the dress that my daughter's Bean and Sweetie wore. They both wore identical dresses. I appliqued' the cow faces on a T-Shirt, and then sewed a cow print skirt onto it. It is such fun learning how to applique' with my sewing machine.
All dressed up and ready to head out to Chick-Fil-A. I am asking them to say "Moo" here.

When we got to Chick Fil A the cow spotted them right away, and wanted them join the "herd".

And this is the picture that I have entered into Chick-Fil-A's Show us the Cow photo contest. I would be SO VERY MUCH appreciative if you would click over there and give us your vote and help us make it into the finalists! Show And Tell Friday~Fair Winnings!

For the first time ever, I entered some items into our county fair, as well as my children. Today, I want to show you what we entered, and what we won with our entries!

First off, before I show you the pictures, I want to say that this was *alot* of fun. If you have an opportunity to do this in your state, or county, take advantage of it. It boosted Sweeties self-confidence, and also allowed me tie some heart strings with her as I taught her some new skills.

OK! First thing we did was enter an egg decorating contest. All of the kids were allowed to participate in this. And I think everyone "won" something.
This is Tiny Boy's egg. It placed third, and won a $2 cash awardBean's egg. It also placed third with a $2 cash award
Sweetie's egg. Also third place, with a $2 award. We saw some really unique egg decorations, and got some great ideas for next year! :)

Next, Sweetie and I entered some baking classes
This is the Whole Wheat Bread I bake on a regular basis. It placed First with a $5 award in it's category I guess. I am not sure how the placing system works
Sweetie won 2nd place and $3 for the Cream Cheese Cookies she made!

Then Sweetie entered some "fine art". It was a water color painting of the sun done in dots all over the place.
It placed 3rd, with a $2 award!

Sweetie and I entered some sewing. I entered the outfit I made to sell on ebay.
It placed 1st, with a $5 reward
Sweetie entered a tote bag she had made.
It placed 1st, as well as "BEST IN CLASS"!!!! The 1st place was $5, and the "best in class" was $10, for a total of $15! I was sooooo excited for Sweetie! I am always tell her she is going to be a better sewer than me, and this really boosted her confidence! I am so proud of her!!!
We even had some time for a few fun rides, and fabulous fair food! :)

Show and Tell & Feminine Friday~Favorite Accessories

Show and Tell

I am going to try and kill two birds with one stone today... And I hope it is OK with the fine ladies at No Place like Home and The Barefoot Mama.
I am going to show you a few pieces of my favorite accessories that I love to wear.

This is a necklace that my Mother in law made. She designed it for the bridesmaids in my sister in law's wedding. I was one of the bridesmaids, so I got one. :)
I think it is so delicate and feminine. It is also simple. I just *love* simple pieces of jewelry. For some reason, simple jewelry seems to bring out the beauty in the woman.
If the piece is large and bold, that is all I notice. ;-)

You can't tell from the lighting in the picture, but the beads are swarovski crystals, and they are a beautiful smokey purple color and clear. It is breath taking in person. :)
The next piece, which I love to wear with the above necklace, I found at my favorite retail store; T*arget! ;-) It too, is delicate and simple, and also *very* feminine.
This picture is kind of blurry. It is very hard to take a close up picture of your ear! ;-) This piece of jewelry is a bit more fancy than what would I normally choose, but it is still simple enough as to not distract me. And I love how the pearls and crystal are together. It is just very stunning and feminine to me.

This picture was taken last Christmas at my husband's Christmas work party. I am wearing the necklace, earrings and headband together.

I just love how simple, feminine, and elegant the effect is. :)

Be sure to visit Kelli's and Kelly ;-) to see some other lovely items.

PS. I want to thank everyone for the sweet comments they left me on my last Show and Tell post. It is extremely hard to go and visit each one of your blogs during the week, and the weekend was a stressful one for me. I'll try to be a better friend this week. So sorry! Sweetie is going to visit her Nana for two days, so hopefully, I will have a bit more spare time. Thank you again. Those comments mean alot to me. :)

Show and Tell Friday~Fall Wreath

Show and Tell

About a week ago, the kids and I went out for a mid-morning walk. I noticed that the wild plants were abounding with beautiful ornaments of fall colors.

A bold idea came to my head, and I started to collect all of these "weeds", as some would call them, to make a wreath. But I found so much variety, textures, and colors, that it was hard to pass up.

Later in the afternoon, I put together the fall colored wreath out of these plants. I knew it wouldn't last long. In fact, it probably only lasted one day. But I didn't mind. It was good for my creative spirit. :) The pictures you see here are the results of my efforts with the plants that God planted near our home. It is also in my blog header; with a little help from photo shop. :)

Hope you enjoy the festive fall colors as I did. :)

Show and Tell Friday~Our Doggie Fritz

Show and Tell

This is our puppy "Fritz". A while back I posted a quick picture post about him, but never "told" how we came to get him.

There is a little story behind him. Actually an adventure. ;-)

After Keyotte died, we were feeling a bit empty in the house. Before Keyotte even died though, I had started to research about different dog breeds. I was planning on getting a dog sometime after Tiny Boy turned three. I figured that was a good age to puppy train a puppy, since Tiny Boy hopefully wouldn't need so much attention by then

My dog breed list had very certain criteria that needed to be stuck to:
1. Good with children!!!
2. Small dog breed
3. Doesn't Shed
4. Has very few genetic problems
5. Travels well

So that was my list, and I came across the miniature schnauzer breed. I checked into a breeder here. $800! WOW! That was something that we would defiantly have to save up for.

Then Keyotte died. The house was Quiet, and Sweetie was kind of depressed. So I started on the lookout for a dog.

I checked into Petfinder; but couldn't find a puppy schnauzer. They were all adult dogs, and the people putting them up for adoption were very adamant about not putting them in homes with small children.

So I sort of gave up. Then one day about seven days after Keyotte died, I decided to just look for "puppy" in petfinder. Perhaps I was being too picky about a specific breed?

One of the first pages to pop up there were *two* schnauzer puppies!!!

So I called up the human society that were offering them up. One was female and the other was male.

The lady told me that the female had been inquired about eight times. The male had no inquires.

There was one catch to getting the puppy. It was a first come first serve basis, and they either went through Petco, or a local flea market to adopt them out.

Fritz was at the flea market, which wasn't local for me. About a three hour drive.

So on a Friday night, I loaded up my van with the girls, and left Tiny Boy at home with Daddy. I went to stay overnight at my mom's, as the city was only an hour and a half away from her. She and our good friend also accompanied us to this city.

We got there *just* as they were unloading the dogs, and I grabbed up my little Fritzy and told them that I wanted him.

He was only $250, including new puppy shots, neutering, and a micro chip implanted into him.

Fritz has been the best little dog for our family. He has fit right in. He is good with the kids, he is affectionate, and also warns us of *every* *little* *noise* that is out of place, LOL!

I believe the Lord allowed us to have this doggie. The Lord knew *how much* I wanted a schnauzer puppy. He also knew that we couldn't afford to buy one full price. And he just happened to give me the idea to look for "puppy" instead of schnauzer on petfinder.com. Jesus hand picked out Fritz for us; I believe. Fritz has grown on all of our hearts. :)

Show And Tell Friday~My Bedroom Got A Face Lift

Show and Tell

I am just so tickled and EXCITED about today's Show and Tell!!! For you see, after seven years of marriage, I finally have a beautiful and romantic bedroom!!!

About a week ago, I decided that I had had enough of just a "functional" room, and decided enough was enough, and painted the bedroom.

But before we get into the "telling" part, I want to show you a couple of "before" pictures of my bedroom.
As you can see, my bedroom needed *ALOT* of help! :) Sadly, I have to say that we sort of lived this way for a couple of months. It has been cleaner at times, but still not beautiful and Romantic, LOL!

Before I go on to show you the after pictures, I must say that a very sweet friend from church came over one day and helped me to paint the room. It was a good time of fellowship, and we got to know one another better. (And ate too many brownies in the process) And It just so happens that she also has a blog, so go check it out when you get a chance. :)

I also want to say that I believe the Lord gave me this opportunity to re-decorate. Because I had *not* planned on doing this at all! I was "just going to run a few errands" that needed some running for! After I was finished getting ready to go, I turned around to shut the light off, looked at my sad bedroom and said, "Maybe One Day my bedroom will be pretty"

So while at T*rget, I was" just browsing" the comforters. All of the sudden I saw a WHOLE Bed set in a bag for only $42, and it was *exactly* what I had in mind for several months. Maybe even since last year. I have had my eyes peeled for something like it, but never could find what I liked.
It had a bed skirt, shames, pillow cases, sheets, and comforter in the exact colors I wanted for only $42!!! What a deal!! And there was only one size left that would fit my bed. The other size was a twin.
So after I bought that, I headed over to our local home improvement store, and picked out the paint.

OK, now, I will show you the After pictures. Drum roll please!
