Why I Have a Smarter Than Your Adverage Kindergarterner

Last week, My niece and nephew came to visit from out of state. They were staying with my mother, and my kids *loved* their visit.

Last Wednesday, we went over to my moms, and the kids wanted me to make a list for a "treasure" hunt. On the treasure hunt list I wrote "lizard"

Sweetie and her 8yo boy cousin found a dead salamander somewhere, and brought it to me in a baggie.

Later on Sweetie told me she wanted to take it home and "isect" it. Sweetie has *always* had a fascination for bones for some odd reason. So I want to take advantage of t hat in a positive way, so guess what? I allowed her to take it home. "Ewww! Gross!Sicko! D-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g!" I know.

What's worse, is that we got home late on Wednesday night, and Sweetie fell asleep in the car clutching to that "lizard" in a plastic baggie. My husband carried her in from the car, then he took the lizard and put it in the refrigerator, and didn't tell me about it. How thoughtful of him.

;-)

Sweetie woke up the next morning asking where it was; and I had no idea! I discovered it when I went to make their morning oatmeal!

My husband told me to buy an exacto knife to do the deed with, and so Friday afternoon, I went out and bought one. Plus a seem ripper, LOL!

Then Sweetie wanted me to do it with her. I told her that Daddy loved to do that kind of stuff, so he would do it with her. She waited so patiently to have some daughter- daddy bonding time of dissecting the lizard. And thankfully, my husband is kind of a science nerd, and he cut it open with her.

They found the heart, bones, blood, and the brain.

Sure, Sweetie didn't learn all of the technical terms and stuff about lizards. But she did a highschool project and hasn't even began kindergarten officially yet. Which I think makes her smarter than the average kindergartner, thank you very much. :)

Enjoy the pictures. Not for the faint of heart though!

Really! Who needs a Television when you can see all the blood, guts, horror and violence in real life?!

EWW....what a fun post! Lol!

I love moments like that, even when they are tough to handle... literally! I once touched a tarantula we found in the driveway, just because I figured as a homeschool mom (of boys, no less!) it was something I ought to be 'tough' enough to do. :)

Thanks for sharing!

I have a question.... I know you have used FIAR... have you ever used the Bible Study Character Supplement? We will be doing lots of character study this next year and some FIAR and I would love to know what those who have used the supplement thought of it. You can comment on my blog or email me at: bzcookieATyahooDOTcom

Thanks so much! :)
